Second Bite was founded in 2005, by husband and wife, Ian and Simone Carson. They decided that they could no longer watch good food go to waste in restaurants and supermarkets after they closed, as people starved on the streets. Ian and Simone started out volunteering with friends, by collecting wasted food from pickup points and distributing them on the streets. Second Bite is now a nation wide not for profit organisation and have branches run by volunteers all over the Australia. In total they have distributed 16.5 million kilograms of food and 33 million meals to the homeless and the hungry. Website
